Disproportionate Assets Case: Jayalalithaa to seek bail today

Chennai/Bengaluru: Lawyers for jailed AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa will move the Karnataka High Court on Monday for bail for her while they were also finalising a strategy for seeking a stay on her conviction and sentence in the disproportionate assets case.

“We will be filing a bail application in the Karnataka HC tomorrow,” B. Kumar, senior counsel for the 66-year-old leader said.

But it may be taken up only on Tuesday when the-re is a scheduled hearing by a vacation bench as the HC will observe holidays from September 29 to October 6 for Dasara.

Meanwhile Ms Jayalali-thaa, currently lodged in the Parappana Agrahara central prison, seems to be slowly adjusting to the prison lifestyle. “It appea-red that she had sleepless night and woke up early. She went for walk along with Sasikala in the prison garden,” a source said.
