New Delhi: The fate of the ruling BJP in Karnataka, which voted on Sunday, will be known on May 8 when counting will take place. The state, which registered a turnout of almost 70 percent, may see a sweep by the Congress, according to a poll of several exit polls.

The Congress, the poll suggests, is set to win 118 of the 223 seats whereas the BJP, which formed its first government in the south in 2008, is expected to bag only 47 seats. The JD(S) is close with 40 seats expected to land in its kitty.
