Bantwal, Setptember 4: On Wednesday early morning, the burglar’s sneaked into Shree Agni Durgee Bramhalinga Temple at Bambila in Moodu-Padukodi village and fled away with the valuables worth Rs 4lakhs.
The thieves took entry into the temple through the back side by removing the roofing tiles above the Igalu and Huli devara gudi. Later they entered the Agni Durgee and Bramhalingeshwara gudi by forcing the door open; looted the ornaments which were placed on the Idols. They even broke open the lock of the temples office; looted the ornaments, offerings and cash placed in the locker. The sickle, pick-axe and the broken lock are found inside the temple.
Pearl chain weighing 3 pavans(1pavan=8grams), Gundu Maale weighing 3.5 pavans, Jodi Thali Karimani weighing 2.5 pavans, Gundu Sara weighing 3 pavans which was donated as an offering and other ornaments weighing 2 pavans all together 14 pavans of gold ornaments and 30,000 Rs were burgled , said the Kshetras Dharmadarshi Mr Raghava Suvarna. The burglary is suspected to have occurred early morning between 1a.m to 5a.m.The burglary has occurred during the period when the preparation for installation of the CC Cameras was going on. The cops have suspected the intrusion of the locals in the burglary.
The Bantwal Sub-divisional Deputy Sub-Inspector Rashmi, Belthangadi circle inspector Lingappa and the Punjaalakatte head constable Lathesh and other personnel’s have visited the spot and carried on the investigation. The dog squad and the forensic specialist’s team were brought to the spot .As the news of the burglary spread out, the renovation committee president Tungappa Bangera, the heads Prakash Anchan, Purushottam Anchan, Vishwanath Shambur and the local devotees visited the shirne and urged to arrest the thieves immediately. A few years back this temple was constructed and Bramhakalashotsava had taken place. The devotees thronged to the temple because of its miraculous background.
