Mangalore, July 22: It’s been alleged that a girl student was sexually harassed by a lecturer in a college at Vamanjoor.
Harish, a Kannada lecturer at a private college at Vamanjoor, is accused of troubling a PU student for the past one year and sexually harassing her.
Sources said that Harish used to send her lewd text messages every day and whenever she walked past him in the school premises, would try to touch her. He would even make her wait alone in the campus after class hours.
Fed up with the constant harassment, the girl came home crying on Monday evening and after locking herself in her room, attempted to commit suicide. Her family members broke into her room and saved her on time.
On learning about the teacher’s behaviour, the family of the girl approached the police and filed a complaint at Kankanady police station.
The police are conducting further investigation. Sources said that the teacher has gone absconding.
