Mangalore, Jul 3: The recent changes on the course of traffic resulted in two accidents on Thursday July 3 near St Agnes College, Bendore in the city.
The road leading to Bendorewell Circle from St Agnes was converted into one-way road since June 30. This road has two lanes with a divider in between. As no oncoming traffic is now allowed on this road, vehicles use both the lanes for moving towards Bendorewell Circle.
The locals blamed that the accidents were the results of the changes recently made in the movement of traffic on this stretch.
Accident details:
A Renault Duster car which was moving towards Bendorewell Circle on this road took right turn at this point, but was instantly hit by a Maruti 800 car that was moving parallel to the Duster on the other lane. Both the vehicles were damaged in the accident.
Immediately thereafter, a motor bike turned right here and was hit by a KSRTC bus moving on the other lane. The injured bike rider, identified as Mangal Kumar (54) working for telephone exchange, was shifted to Colaco Hospital for treatment.
Traffic on the road got blocked for about 30 minutes as a result, before the policemen came on the scene and cleared the vehicles. Stranded locals got into a heated argument with police personnel over the problems faced by them.
The accident cases have been registered.
