Mangalore, May 16: Four boys meet a watery grave at Koorkatta in Baikampady on May 16, Friday.

The deceased are identified as Koorikatta residents Girish (7) and Naveen (8) sons of Tirukappa hailing from Haveri, Neelappa (9) son of Jinjappa and Chidananda (9) son of Jamanna hailing from Badami.

It is learnt that, a group of five boys had went to the sea to play in water, in the meantime the three boys were pulled by the strong waves.

The local fisherman who saw the boys drowning, immediately rushed rescue them, but could not save four and only one among them identified as Manjunath was rescued.

The deceased boys were the students of Baikampady government school and are children of migrant labourers from north Karnataka.

Local BJP president Yogesh V, local corporator Raghuveer, Naveen Kanchan, Roshan Kunder, Taranath Salian, and Jeevan participated in the rescue operation.

Panambur police arrived at the spot and investigation is on.
