Protesters stages massive protest demanding to shift Brahmarakootlu toll gate

Bantwal, Apr 26: The residents of Bantwal under the leadership of Bantwal taluk Nagarika Hitarakshana Samiti staged a massive protest at Brahmarakootlu toll gate on April 25, Friday, urging to shift the toll gate.

Addressing the protesters, Samiti president and zilla panchayat member Chandraprakash Shetty said that although four lane work is not completed at Brahmarakootlu, and the authorities are collecting the toll.

He also said that the toll gate has no space and no basic facilities, hence it is better to shift the toll gate immediately.

The new toll gate do not have computerized gate, government is being cheated without disclosing accounts and passengers are also charged with unfair rates by showing gun and acting like rowdies after joining hands with political parties.

He also warned the authorities to shift  the toll gate or else, public themselves will have to take action against it.

The protesters also shouted slogans against irregular collection of toll charges and demanding to shift the toll gate elsewhere. The protestors also blocked the road and stopped the collection of toll by entering the toll booth.

Congress leader Harikrishna Bantwal, Zilla panchayat member M S Mohammed, Mamatha Gatty, and others spoke on the occasion and warned to stage protest at large if the government fails to act as per the demand.

B Padmashekar Jain, Mayilappa Salian, Abbas Ali, Padmashekar Jain, Prakash Shetty Thumbe, Pius L Rodrigues, Padmanabha Rai, Parameshwara, B K Idinabba, Madhusoodhan Shenoy, Sadashiva Bangera, Mohammed Sharif, Ramakrishna Alva and others were present.

Later they also submitted a memorandum to the union minister of surface transport, chief minister of Karnataka, district incharge minister and project director of National Highway Authority of India through Bantwal taluk tahsildar Malleswamy and assistant commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, in turn assured to fulfill their demands.
