Mangalore, April 23: The state government has finally enhanced the compensation amount from Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs to the bereaved family of cattle trader Kabeer of Jokatte, who was gunned down by ANF personnel at Shringeri check post on April 19, Saturday.
It is learnt that, prior to the compensation announcement, DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai on April 22, Tuesday had met Home Minister KJ George in Bangalore and conducted a detailed discussions with him on the case and urged to provide justice to the family.
Rai also visited Kabeer’s residence and consoled the victim’s family.
