Custom officials seize gold worth Rs. 13,72,000 in two cases at Mangalore Airport

Mangalore, April 14: The Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport seize gold totally weighing 466.650 grams in two separate cases valued at Rs.13,71,951 from the passengers on April 13, Sunday.

In the first case, the officials arrested passenger named Kappanakkal Muhammed Anvar (27), son of Muhammed Kappanakkal, residing at door No 5/342, Kappanakal House, Bekal Po, Kasaragod   and seized two gold wires, totally weighing 233.550 grams and valued at Rs.6,86,637 concealed in the form of beadings around a brown coloured stroller suitcase from him. The passenger had arrived by Air India Express flight No.IX384 from Dubai at Mangalore International Airport at about 0200 hrs.

In the second case, the official’s nabbed passenger named Aboobacker Siddeeque Bennamgala (27), son of Pallikunhi Nakkara Abdulla, residing at Bennamgalakunnil House, Po.Kumbla, Arikkady Kunnil, Kasaragod and seized gold totally weighing 233.100 grams and valued at Rs.6,85,314 concealed in a measuring tape and 44(Forty four)  gold buckles, concealed in footwear and ladies brassieres. The passenger had arrived by Air India Express flight IX814 from Dubai at Mangalore International Airport at about 0440 hrs.

The arrest operations were conducted by a team lead by B Prabhakara Poojary, Superintendent along with Superintendents Sendhil Murugan, B.A.Kariappa, H.G.Yogesh and Inspectors G.Kumaraswamy, S.Ranjan Behera, Santosh Kumar and Ankit Kumar and Havaldars Varadaraju and Sowmya Naik, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport Hemen Gogoi.
