Mangalore, April 22: Kudroli billavara mahila sangha, a sub unit of All India Billavara Union, Kudroli has celebrated its completion of ten years of glorious existence in the city at Town hall on April 21,Sunday.
Smt.Roopa Sudheer Sanil, Vice President, Billava balaga, Dubai inaugurated the function.
Addressing the gathering Naveenchandra D Suvarna,president, All India Billavara Union said in his speech that although in the male dominated society chances for ladies to come in the front is very bleak but for the overall development of the country/society women’s involvement is very much needed, he said.
While appreciating the organizers of the function for their efforts, he said, for the ladies who wish to come to the main stream of the society and render their services, organizing this type of functions is need of the hour which he emphasized.
Smt.Sumalatha Suvarna, President, Kudroli mahila sangha while welcoming the gathering, explained and briefed all the activities and achievements undertaken by the mahila sangha over the period of ten years ever since it’s establishment on March 16, 2013 and was under the able guidance of All India Billavara Union, which has got hundred years of history.
The main objective of Kudroli Billavara Mahila Sangha, a unit of All India Bllavara Union, Kudroli, wants to bring community women to the main stream of the society and make them aware about their role in the society and Sangha has been rendering services in the field of social, educational, spiritual and political, she added.
Also she said, after rendering many social programmes,a mammoth rally was organized in a grand scale during the month of October,2004 by billavara mahila sangha to commemorate the one year of its existence,she said.
Many camps such as women’s welfare, awareness about judicial system,yoga training,self –employment training, Education to girls and medical assistance to women had been organized for the benefit of the community women besides responding to many other needs of the women including establishment of Sauharda sahakari bank,she added.
A souvenir in memory of the sangha has been released by Smt.Kalpana Bhaskar, Vice president, Kundapura billava samaja seva sangha.
Chief guests Smt.B S Leelavathi, madikeri billava samaja seva sangha, mahila wing, Smt.Sarojini P Suvarna-President, Mulky billava seva sangha and among others were present in the function.
Besides having felicitated community achievers in their respective fields, financial help to the deserving students of the community and many more entertainment programmes have been chalked out for the day.
