Mangalore, Mar 19: Suresh D Palli, correspondent of Hosa Digantha Kannada daily was conferred with the prestigious annual ‘PaGo Award’ for his report ‘Korapalu Sarathyadalli Belagitu Grama’ at the press Club on March 19, Wednesday.
The award was instituted by Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Union for the Best Rural Reporting in memory of Late Gopalkrishna Bhat for his report published on June 13, 2013.
Dr B M Hegde presented the award consisting of shawl, citation, memento and cash prize of Rs 10,000 sponsored by the Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Dr D Veerendra Heggade and Press Club.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Hegde said that the people residing in the villages are honest and hardworking and their efforts need to be exposed and it is only possible when they are focused by the media.
The village is still rich in natural resources like air, water, food, sun rays and earth, which is very important for every person.
He also said that to remain healthy, one must love each other and hate no one.
Senior journalists Chidambara Baikampady, Yashawanth Boloor and Sachitha Nandagopal were the panel of judges.
Dakshina Kannada Working Journalist Union (DKWJU) president P B Harish Rai welcomed the guests and gathering. Srinivas Indaje proposed vote of thanks.
