Mangalore, Mar 4: Lorry carrying rice and other groceries fell in to water at the old port on March 4, Tuesday afternoon.
The lorry named ‘Lady of Fathima’ loaded with rice and other food grains from the port was ready to heading towards Bantwal, when the incident took place.
It is learnt that the lorry had suffered a brake failure when it was moving towards the main road and took a turn. The lorry which moved directly towards the river plunged into it.
Later, the locals rescued the lorry driver and cleaner who were caught inside.
