Mangalore, March 3: The bundh call given by the Karavali Jeevanadi Netravathi Rakshana Samithi along with various other like-minded organizations opposing the Netravathi diversion project has paralyzed the normal life in the city on Mar 3, Monday.
Showing the unity opposing the proposed project for the first time, almost all educational institutions, shops and business establishments remained closed. While only a few private vehicles are seen moving on the roads.
The incident of stone pelting has also been witnessed in Kodialbail and Adyar. The protestors have even burnt tyres to block the roads.
The police department has taken stringent measures to avoid any untoward
incident.
The organization is observing the day as Black Day protesting against the government decision to lay the foundation for the controversial project.
