Mangalore, Feb 17: City Crime Branch and Pandeshwar Police Station have arrested Underworld don Bannanje Raja aide from Manki stand at Pandeshwar on February 15, Saturday.
The arrested has been identified as Sooryakumar alias Soori (35), hailing from Suntikoppa in Madikeri and a resident of Manki Stand since a decade. Soori has been accused of possessing arms illegally and during the arrest, the police have recovered a pistol from his possession. He was produced in a court on Sunday.
During the interrogation, Soori revealed that a woman in Manipal had given him a pistol, as per the directions of Santu and Achangi Mahesh currently living in Mysore prison.
Soori was jailed in a murder case of senior citizen named Vasudeva Shenoy who was residing at his apartment near PVS Kalakunj and had been released from jail recently.
The arrest was led by police inspector Dinkar Shetty, and CCB inspector Valentine D’Souza.
