Mangalore, Feb 14: MLA J.R.Lobo, laid the foundation stone for the India’s first ever 3D planetarium ‘Swami Vivekananda Planetarium’ that will be set up in ‘Dr.Shivram Karanth Nisarga Dhama’ at Pilikula Feb 13, Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the government will provide additional grant of Rs 10 crore in order to implement several projects like setting up aquarium, craftsmen village and biological museum at Nisraga Dhama.
He also said that Swami Vivekananda Planetarium will be India’s first ever 3D planetarium to be set up. Though the idea was conceptualized three years ago, it is being finally implemented. The completion of planetarium has the deadline of three years; the contractors have been requested to complete the project within two years.
He also appreciated the effort of former MLA Yogish Bhat who thought of setting up of the planetarium.
Syndicate Bank deputy general manager Sethuraman, Pilikula Regional Science Centre director Dr.K.V.Rao and others were present.

India’s first ever 3D Swami Vivekananda Planetarium will be set up at an estimated cost of Rs.24.50 crore. The width of the dome will be 18 meters. The others feature include sky theatre, exhibition and geological park.
