Man smuggling foreign currency arrested at Mangalore International Airport

Mangalore, Feb 10: The customs officers on February 10, Monday arrested a passenger who was about to board a flight to Dubai at Mangalore International Airport and seized 55,000 US dollars.

The arrested is identified as Abdul Basheer Kadappuram Mohammed, a resident of Kudlu in Kasargod.

Abdul who was scheduled to board the Air India Express flight to Dubai at 8.55 am was arrested at 7.30 am and seized the foreign currency valued Rs 34 lakhs in Indian currency in his trolley luggage.

Abdul had no valid documentation of the currency notes he was carrying ad suspected to be case of foreign currency smuggling.

For further investigation, he was handed over to the directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI)
