Mangalore, Jan 21: Ananthakrishna, chairman, Karnataka Bank inaugurated the 25th National Road Safety Week at Town Hall on January 21, Tuesday.
The event was organized by the District Administration in association with Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and the Police Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Ananthakrishna said that there is necessity to create road safety awareness during the safety week and further continue in the in the coming days to be stable. Once if the public get used to the traffic regulations and follow it then there will be no need for conducting safety week programmes in future days.
MLA J R Lobo was the chief guest and said that addressing the gathering; MLA J R Lobo said that public themselves are the main reasons for the increase in the number of road accidents in the city. Most of the time, the riders are killed due to their own mistakes, while in some cases innocent people are killed due to the mistakes committed by others. Hence every person must take responsibility of their own safety.
IGP Pratap Reddy, SP Shanthanu Sinha, KCCI president Mohammed Ameen, Canara bus owners’ association president Rajavarma Ballal, DCP Jagadish and RTO Afzal Ahmad Khan and others were present on the dais.
The week-long road safety programme will conclude on January 27.
