Kundapur; Jan11: While delivering an introductory speech in three days ‘Kadalotsava-2014 programme, which was inaugurated in Shree Maha Eshwara Kreeda Kala Saamskritika Sangha’s vedhike in Uppunda’s Madikal sea beach on Jan 10, Friday, S.Madhan Kumar, secretary, Kadalotsava samiti said in his address that it is not enough to perform ‘Kadalotsava’ by pouring 5 litres of milk before the commencement of fishing trade but must understand that our life is in companionship with sea. Our life is suffering from insecurity. Main purpose of celebrating ‘Kadalotsava’ is to attract the minds of government, elected representatives and department, he said.
Dr.Rajendra Kumar Jain, president of Zilla Kendra Sahakari bank after inaugurating the procession said in his address that 1.5km distance Uppunda sea bank should become tourist centre. If government pays more attention towards this matter, we can beat other countries in tourism business, he said.
Gopala Bhandary, legislator has presided over the programme and said in his presidential speech that Koderi mini port, which was started in the past at the cost of Rs 3 crore is in the final stage and as per the demands of the people for the second phase of the port, an appeal for grant of Rs 33 crore was made again and permission for the same has been obtained, he said.
Uppunda Dharmika Prathistana’s Madhaya Shetty’s house Seetharama Shetty has inaugurated the stage programme ritualistically by catching the fish through fishing hook.In undivided Dakshina Kannada district only, most splendid including fishermen, for thousands of the people, sea is the main support, Uppunda has become a witness for ‘Kadalu Sambhrama-Kadalotsava programme.’A magnificent procession, different types of tableaus coupled with the milling crowds has made thrilling experience.
The procession was culminated in front of magnificently built Sree Maha Eshwara Kreeda Kala Samskritika Sangha vedhike on the bank of the sea.
B.Rama Kharvi, president of Sree Maha Eshwara Kreeda Kala Samskitika Sangha and his wife Smt.Savita Rama Kharvi have offered Samudra Pooja.Prakash Udupa took the leadership of performing the pooja.
Byndoor Vidhana Sabha legislator Gopala Poojary has presided over the programme.
Uppunda village panchayat president Jagannath,District panchayat former president,taluk panchayat member Raju Poojary,Udupi district Kannada Sahitya parishat former president Uppunda Chandrashekara Holla,secretary M.Nagesh Kharvi,port department assistant working committee officer Abhiyanthara N.M.Kharvi,Shridhara Kharvi, President,Sree Maha Eshwara temple Madikal were on the stage.

No Luck for Deshpande:
There was a programme for Deshpande, minister for higher education and tourism, to offer Baagina to Lord Sea. But Deshpande, who was supposed to come as tourism minister for the programme, has neglected the coastal fishermen. In fact, this has become question of destiny and his absence itself proved that he does not have that luck, regretted S.Madhan Kumar, president of Kadalotsava samiti.
Ministers who did not turn up:
It is a tragedy that most of the Kadalotsava fans, lovers have disappointed because none of the ministers mentioned in the list for publicity has not come to the programme.
Different types of delicious fish curries, variety sports competitions and different types of stalls attracted the Kadalotsava lovers.
