Mangalore, Jan 3, 2014: The newly appointed Mangalore City Policec Commissioner R Hithendra has been elevated to the rank of the Inspector General of Police by the state government.
He is the first IPS officer of an IGP rank to head the Mangalore Police Commissionerate since its formation four years ago.
Gopal B Hosur, the then IGP of Western Range was made the in-charge Commissioner when the Commissionerate was first formed in January 2010. Later, Seemanth Kumar Singh, an IPS officer of the DIG rank took charge.
Even Seemanth Kumar Singh has now been promoted and he will continue as Commander of ANF, Karkala.
