Udupi: State Government releases special package of Rs 3 Crore for Udupi Paryaya Mahotsava celebration-MLA

Udupi; Dec 31: Addressing the press reporters in the press meet held on Dec 30, Monday, Pramodh Madhwaraj, legislator said in his speech that as a part of Udupi Paryaya Mahotsava celebration, which will be held from Jan 17-Jan 18, 2014, in Udupi State government has released Rs 3.crore.

Continuing his speech, he said that State government as a special package for Udupi Paryaya Mahotsava celebration has released Rs 3 crore besides  Rs 3 crore under 2013-2014, SFC scheme for the development of Udupi town as a special grant-in-aid. A total of Rs 6 crore has been released by the state government for the said purposes.

The government, led by chief minister Siddaramaiah has completed its seven months of its existence. During these seven months period, Union transport minister Oscar Fernandez, district in charge and urban development minister Vinaya Kumar Sorake and MP K.Jayaprakash Hegde have taken considerable amount of extra interest in releasing this grant of Rs 6 Crore.

As a pre-preparation for the Paryaya Mahotsava celebration, filling of all the ditches and ponds on the roads within the jurisdiction of Udupi municipality will take place. This special package of grant-in-aid money will be distributed among 35 wards to meet, respond the demands of the people, said MLA

He further informed that Rs 57 lacs have been released for the repair, maintenance of the roads falling under city’s district panchayat. He clarified that the grants released by the congress government, is not committed by the previous BJP government. As the grants releases, it will come at any cost, he replied to one of the questions.

Previous BJP government led by B.S.Yedyurappa had announced Rs 25 crore during the Udupi Amratha Mahotsava occasion but released only Rs 10 crore.Due to this, work of Padukere Bridge had not shown any progress. Besides though Rs 30 crore was sanctioned from the city development fund, not even single paise have been released so far. This money has to be released by our government, he said.

CMC president yuvaraj, vice president Amratha Krishnamurthy, standing committee president Salina Karkada were present in the press meet.
