Mangalore, Dec 21: On December 21, Saturday, the second additional district and sessions court sentenced a man with 10 years of imprisonment for raping a minor Dalit girl.
The court on December 20, Friday held Anil, a resident of Kutrupady, Puttur guilty of raping a 14-year-old girl twice in October 2012 and January 2013. The victim is said to be the daughter of coolie workers and was studying in 9th standard.
Judge Uma M G sentenced the accused with 10 years of jail and fine of Rs 8,000, which will be given to the victim.
Apart from it, Anil was pronounced with 7 years of jail and Rs 3,000 fine under IPC section 376(1), while 6 months imprisonment and Rs 1,000 fine under section 506, under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act termed two years of imprisonment and Rs 1,000 fine, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The maximum punishment among these was considered.
