Serial killer ‘Cyanide’ Mohan pronounced with death sentence

Mangalore, Dec 21: The fourth additional district and session court on Dec 21, Saturday convicted ‘Cyanide’ Mohan guilty in three out of 20 murder cases, pronounced him with death sentence.

Mohan was convicted in murder cases of The court has held Mohan guilty of murdering Anitha(22) of Barimaru in Bantwal taluk, Leela(32) of Kodambettu in Belthangady taluk and Sunanda(25) of Peruvaje in Bellare village of Sullia taluk with cyanide.

Pronouncing the verdict, judge B K Nair termed the case as the rarest of the rare cases, since he had committed the murder even his mental status was stable. He also said that Mohan had also tried to mislead the court during the hearing of the cases and hence no mercy will be shown on him.

The court pronounced him with death penalty under section 302 and Rs 5000 fine for murder, five years of imprisonment and 5,000 fine under section 376 for rape, three years imprisonment and Rs 1,000 fine under section 328 for administering poison, five years imprisonment and Rs 5,000 fine under section 392 for robbery, 10 years imprisonment and Rs 10,000  fine under section 394 for internally causing harm in committing robbery, one year imprisonment under section 465 for forgery, three years imprisonment and Rs 2,000 fine under section 468 for forgery for cheating, three years imprisonment and Rs 2,000 fine under section 473 for possessing or making counterfeit seal, three years imprisonment and Rs 3,000 fine under section 201 for destruction of evidence and six months imprisonment under section 417 for cheating. Finally maximum punishment of death penalty was considered under section 302.
