Mangalore, Dec 20: The members of ABVP staged a protest against the implementation of Karnataka Professional Education Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee) Act, 2006 at PVS Circle on Friday Dec 20.
The students from Canara PU College and Expert College participated in the event.
Addressing the protestors, N Ravikumar Kshatriya Sangatana secretary, ABVP said that the Common Entrance Fee will be doubled which will increase the burden on the poor and backward classes. The government is favouring private institutions by cancelling government quota in private institutions. The private institutions will lure money from students seeking admissions which is a bias in the education system.
He also said that private institutions will rule the education sector and the act will facilitate their domination, while it will lead to discontinuation of studies due to poor financial status of many students.
He also demanded the government to take back its decision of implementing the Act and continue with the existing system of admission to professional courses.
