Karkala; Nov 15: In view of up- grading Hebri village panchayat to town panchayat, Karnataka Rakshana Vedhike in association with Hebri Village Panchayat organized a meeting for public discussion to sort out pro and anti opinions with regard to up-gradation of Hebri village panchayat and special information programme from higher authorities on Nov 14, Friday in Panchayat’s auditorium.
In the meeting, in which chief’s from different organizations,Sanghas,public,panchayat representatives were participated,Prasanna Kumar, district planning director and Gopala Shetty,Karkala municipal’s chief administrator too attended and given information about town panchayat and answered the questions asked by the villagers. They also explained about merits and demerits, advantages and disadvantages of panchayats, when it is being up-graded to town panchayat.
Citing an example of already qualified for town panchayats like Sringeri, N.R.Pura, Koppa, Moodigere, where population is less, when we upgrade Hebri village panchayat to town panchayat, where population is more as compared to other places, we can develop Hebri village more and avail additional grant-in-aid from the government, he said.
In the function, where Suma N Adyanthaya,president Hebri Panchayat was the president,H.Prasanna Ballal,former vice president of district panchayat,Smt Baby, vice president of panchayat,taluk panchayat member Mamata Nayak,panchayat members,eminenet personalities from different Sanghas,organizations and local residents were present.
While former president of Panchayat Neere Krishna Shetty and member Vadiraja Shetty explained about the disadvantages, obstacles of the town panchayat, former president of panchayat Jayakara Poojary,H.K.Sridhara Shetty,H.Mohandas Nayak,Venkataramana Nayak,Naveen Adyanthaya,Chara Ratnakara Shetty,H.K.Narayana Naik,Bhoja Poojary,retired secretary of panchayat Rajeev Shetty, Kerebettu Sanjeeva Shetty,C.Ananda Hegde,Chandrashekara Shetty and among others expressed their individual opinions.
Authorities, by answering all the questions of villagers about town panchayat said that there are 229 town panchayat, municipal council,corporations,Mahanagara Palika are rendering their services and in view of more development of cities in the state, government has decided to add 110 more centres.
For the town panchayat more than 3 crore annual grant-in-aid will be available and this is 20 times more than village panchayat, he added.
Likewise Grameena Kripanka facility, employment guarantee projects, Suvarna grama yojane, taluk panchayat, zilla panchayat voting rights will be missing out of our hands once the town panchayat has been announced. But after becoming town panchayat continuous city development projects, Swarna Jayanti Shahari projects, additional permanent job vacancies, additional grant-in-aid from the state government. Ample opportunities are there to avail the facilities properly and suggestions have been given in this regard, he said.
