Karkala; Nov 07: It was reported from Karkala private nursing home on Nov 05, Tuesday night that a young unmarried couple allegedly attempted suicide after their affair behind closed doors has got exposed.
The boy, who was embarrassed with the incident, in order to save from the humiliation, jumped from the third floor of the hospital and got admitted to KMC in serious condition. Meantime the girl cut her veins in her wrist and is now fighting between life and death in the hospital.
The girl, originally from Tamil Nadu joined in one of the hospitals in the city as nurse, three weeks ago. When Prakash Shetty, a resident of Borkatte and Girl’s maternal uncle Girish, was working together in Mumbai in one of the hotels and they became friends. At that time, Girish told him about his niece, who is working in Karkala hospital. When girl was brought to Karkala by her parents, they stayed at Prakash’s house. Then they became friends.
Before joining hospital in Karkala as nurse, she completed her nursing course in Bangalore. The acquaintance transformed into love between girl and Prakash and their affair was advancing.
On Tuesday, girl had night duty at the hospital. Prakash had brought her a food parcel into her room at around 10 pm.The watchman had noticed him entering the girl’s room, which normally lady staffs are entering.
The watchman went to the door and asked them to open it. When there was no response and as the news spread, a large number of people gathered outside the door. After a while, the girl opened the door and threatened the watchman. She questioned him for troubling her, when nobody had entered the room.
When the watchman finally entered the room, he found Prakash hiding there. When Prakash was driven out, the nurse again closed the door and latched it. As she did not open the door despite Prakash’s pleas, he jumped from the third floor and tried to commit suicide, sources said.
Afer hearing the screaming of the staff, girl came out of the room with blood oozing from her wrist. Prakash was found with multiple fractures and was rushed to KMC hospital after first aid was given. His condition is said to be serious.
A case has been registered in the Karkala police station.
