Kundapur ;Oct 26: After inaugurating the birth centenary celebration programme organized at Byndoor J.N .R Kalamandira on Oct 26, Saturday, B.Y.Raghavendra, Shivmog Loka Sabha constituency MP said in his address that Manjayya Shetty was the one, who was elected unopposed as the first MLArom Byndoor Constituency. Shetty was the one great man, who wrote preface to the development of the area. His contribution towards education, health was immense and enormous.
He further said that Shetty was a simple natured and value based politician and his service and achievements in this part of the region in the field of social, religious including in the field of academic on with his own efforts, made him to remain in the hearts of the people permanently. The previous government provided grants to hundreds of crores for the developmental works in Byndoor area, hope which will be continued by the legislators.
He further said that in order to solve the drinking water problem, bridge and barrage has been built in Souparnika river at the cost of Rs 83 crore and under multivillage drinking water project Rs 27 crore, has been received but due to some technical reasons the works remained pending. In the coming days to come, legislators in co-ordination with district in charges works will be completed soon.
Unveiling the name plate of Keerthishesha at Yadtare circle, legislator Gopala Poojary said that due to the pro-development ideas foundation has been laid down by Manjayya Shetty, today Byndoor town has remained as a model town. The former minister Amarnath Shetty unveiled the statue of Keerthisesha and former legislator B.Appanna Hegde presided over the programme.
Former legislator K. Lakshminarayana , district panchayat member Babu Shetty, Suprita Shetty, taluk panchayat member Raju Poojary, village panchayat President Radha Poojary, former MLA L.T. Hegde, Nitte University chancellor Shantarama Shetty, businessman Manohar Shetty, PLD Bank president Dinkar Shetty, K. Prakash Rao , Dr . Sudhakar Hegde, U.T.Alva were present.
B.Jagannatha Shetty welcomed the gathering, Y.N.Hegde had a comprehensive talk in the beginning, Gautam Hegde proposed a vote of thanks and journalists N.Janardhan and Govinda compered the programme.
BJP government, headed by Jagdish Shettar has announced Byndoor as the taluk but present government is holding it back and requested the government, after reviewing, Byndoor should be made taluk soon.
