Udupi; Oct 20:Addressing the “from Karwar to Mangalore coastal fishermen’s conference “ held on Oct 20,Sunday at Shyamili Sabha Bhavana,Sadananda Harikanth, president of traditional fishermen’s sangha said in his address that from progress point of the society, fishing has to be carried out. Otherwise due to crack within the community, entire fishing business might get destroyed.
He further said that traditional fishermen (Persian fishermen) are facing threat due to high-speed and bultral fishing.
There was a discussion in the fishermen’s conference against bultral and high-speed fishing and planning to pressurize the government to ban this fishing, he said
Though there is ban on high speed and bultral fishing, fishing is being taking place at the cost of traditional fishing, he added.
