Bantwal, Oct 8: Condemning the offensive remarks made against the hospitals during the protest held in connection with the death of vice-president of Sarapady gram panchayat Shakuntala, all private medical facilities were suspended in Bantwal taluk as per the call given by Indian Medical Association on Monday Oct.7.
Due to this bundh of private medical hospitals the patients suffered a lot. All the nursing homes, medical stores, clinics were closed in Bantwal on Monday from morning. As a result the patients and even children also who came to hospitals did not get the treatment.
All primary health care centres including Bantwal public health centre remained open, in spite of the bundh. Due to the shutdown, however, the inflow of patients who visited these centres was more than usual.
For emergency cases, patients were rushed to Mangalore for treatment.
