Two widows appointed as the priest of Kudroli Temple: Janardhan Poojary

Mangalore, Oct.3: Former union minister B. Janardhan Poojary said that “For the first time two widows get the chance to enter the sanctum sanctorum of Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple. Also they have appointed as the priest and will perform pooja in the temple from Oct.6 Sunday.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, October 4, Poojary further stated that “On the same day the idol of Dathatreya which is being installed below the peepul tree will be inaugurated he said.

Poojary further said that the main intention behind this is to give equal rights to the women. Even they have the right to perform pooja to the god.

The social reformer Narayana Guru was treated everybody has equals. Now it is followed in Kudroli temple. Vedas and puranas also don’t say that women cannot perform pooja or cannot be made priests. Rapes and atrocities on women will stop only when people start worshipping women. he added.

The women who will be appointed as priests were trained for a period of four month he said.

Dasara will be started with the installation of Goddess Sharada and Navadurga idols. Urmila Ramesh Kumar and Ramesh Kumar inaugurate the Dasara by lighting the lamp.

On October 12 ‘Manasiddare Marga,” book authored by B.Devdas Contrator, member, Shri Kshetra Development Committee will be released.”Poojary informed.

Padmabhushan Dr.B.M.Hegde will preside. Dr.Shivashankar Murthy, chancellor, Mangalore University, Jaya C.Suvarna, president, National Billava Confederation, H.S.Sairam, president, Shree Gokarnateshwara Kshetra and Urmila Ramesh Kumar will be present as chief guests.
