ICYM stages solidarity march against Niddodi Plant

Mangalore, Sept 28: The central council of ICYM Mangalore diocese organized a Protest March from Bendore Church grounds to the DC office to oppose the Niddodi power plant on Sept. 28.

People and organizations from various parts of DK District including many from Niddodi participated in large numbers to oppose this power project.

Rev Fr Denis Moras Prabhu initiated the rally from Bendoor Church by handing over the black flags to the heads of different organizations.


Addressing the protesters the president of Mandd Sobann Eric Ozario said,”The politicians are playing with the future of karavali.If the State govt doesnot cancel the project by next electoral polls the people of niddodi have to boycott the election

Speaking on the occasion ICYM-Amcho Yuvak Editor Darrel Dsouza said,”We do not oppose development but we oppose the development which ruins our life.The politicians are eager to implement this project by making this rich land a barren one. But we will not let any project implemented in Karavali.


ICYM Prez Sheldon Crasta,Director Fr Ronald Dsouza,Vicarvar of episcopal deanery Rev Fr J B Crasta,Convenor of Mathrbhumi Samrakshana Samithi Kiran Manjanabailu,Catholic Sabha president Nizel Pereira,St Aloysius Students Council President Prateek Ponnanna,ICYM Udupi president Ivan Dsilva and other various organizations like Mathrubhumi Samrakshana Samithi Niddodi, YCS Mangalore Diocese, ICYM and YCS Udupi Diocese, Catholic Sabha Mangalore, IFCKA Mangalore, World Konkani Association, Konkani Prachar Sanchalan, All College Students Union, St Aloysius College Students Union and many others participated in the protest.
