Puttur, Sep 21: The student, who was accused of pulling the hair of a girl, was beaten up by the public for harassing a girl belonging to his community who was studying in Uppinangady Government First Grade College.
The student, Ranjith, had earlier pulled the hair of girl belonging to Muslim community in his college. The case was filed against him in Uppinangady police station. Later, a few people in support of Ranjith made a protest and said that case was booked against him is false. The case took a political turn giving rise to clash between BJP and Congress. Then a few of the political leaders had visited hs house and offered money to his family members.
Ranjith who was kept in judicial custody for few days and was later released on bail. After his release, Ranjith stayed at home. MLA Shakuntala Shetty visited him and made him to attend classes.
Now, three weeks after joining the college Ranjith continued his past behaviour. He used to call and send obscene messages to a girl belonging to his community.
The girl had informed her parents about the call. On Friday, Ranjith had asked the girl to meet him in a hotel in Uppinangady. The girl’s family waited for Ranjith near the hotel and when he came they beaten up him in front of the public. Then he was handed over to police.
The girl didn’t gave complaint, so that the police released Ranjith with a warning.
