Kundapur; Sept 10: As a result of Head-on collision between Durgamba and Vijayalaxmi buses, many people in the buses sustained injuries and two are in critical condition.
The accident occurred on Sept 10, Tuesday afternoon near Kumbashi Aanegudde Swagatha Gopura and Durgamba bus fell into 5-6 feet deep valley.
Sources said that in both the buses around 15 people have been sustained injuries and Asfaque, aged 23, driver of the Durgamba bus has been injured seriously. Passengers like Usha,aged 26,Ganesh,aged 25,Vittala Bhandary,Sudhakar Shetty,Lalitha,aged 38,Malathi,aged 28,Vijayalaxmi bus driver Pradeep have been injured and undergoing treatment at Koteshwara private hospital.
Description of the incident:
The bus Durgamaba, which was heading towards Kundapur from Udupi and Vijayalaxmi, plying towards Mangalore from Kundapur met with head-on collision. Eye- witness said that when Vijayalaxmi bus driver was trying to overtake another bus, he lost the control of vehicle and rammed on to Durgamba, which was coming from opposite direction. The driver of the Durgamba bus too lost the control of the bus and turned towards left and as a result of this Durgamba bus hit the road divider and fell into the nearest 5-6 feet deep precipice, resulting more than 10 people injured.Vijayalaxmi bus driver and passengers also got injured.
The traffic has been disrupted due to this accident and after the arrival of police to spot, the traffic has been restored.
Due to the works of highway, vehicle drivers are finding it difficult to ply their vehicles and this is the third incident, which took place in the month. The annoyed citizens urged the concerned authorities to expedite the works of highway.
