UDUPI: Mohammed Saleh Abdullah Al-Asani, a Yemeni national, who was staying illegally in Manipal for the past two years, was deported to Yemen through Mumbai airport on Wednesday.
He had come to Manipal on a student visa on July 8, 2009, and his visa had expired on June 28, 2011. He stayed illegally without renewing his visa in the past two years. As per the directions of superintendent of police M B Boralingaiah, Saleh was detained by Manipal police. Police conducted inquiries and Saleh was then produced before the jurisdictional court in Udupi on August 14. The court rewarded him two days of imprisonment till August 16 and imposed a penalty of Rs 20,000.
