Mangalore, Aug 27: The birthday of lord Krishna, Shri Krishna Janmashtami will celebrate all over the nation as a symbol of good over the bad. According the mythology Krishna is the eight incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who is creator of great hymn in the Hindu culture called’ Bhagavath Geetha’.
Every year in the month of August, when there is Rohini Nakshatra (star) and Ashtami day, Krishna’s birthday will be celebrated. Hence, every temples and house of the people will be decorated with various types of flowers and prepares variety of dishes. We can see the people rushing to the markets from today itself to buy necessary items like flowers, vegetables and others in preparation to the feast. However the prices of commodities have also increased during this festive season.
In the coastal Karnataka, people share joy with lots of fun and entertainment during the Krishna Janmashtami. In the Mangalore Janmashtami celebrates with different manner and it is incomplete without ‘Mosaru Kudike’ which highlights Krishna’s love towards milk and butter and it is similar to ‘Dahi Handi’ in Maharashtra.
In some area the birthday celebration will be ended in two days but in some other places it continues till a week also. During the day of Mosaru Kudike, there will be procession of different statues based different issues relating to Krisjhna’s life and the major attraction of this feast are the children who dress up in the attire of Lord Krishna and his spiritual beloved Radha.
There will be different competitions for children and their parents regarding the Krishna’s life in every area. On this special day, every people make various types of sweets and desserts in their houses and celebrates the occasion like holi.
