Udipi;August 16: Arun M Shirali ,owner of the well- known Modern studio has been selected for” Uppa Puraskar”being conferred jointly by Press Photographers association and Rotary Malpe,Kodavur.
Shirali, a diploma holder from J J School of arts Mumbai, has been in the photography and studio field for the past 45 years and a son of Mangesh Shirali and Mithra shirali and was trained under his father only.
He was involved mostly in black and white photography for the past thirty years and now he is in color photography as well.
Shirali was also a favourite photographer of Manipal Madhava pai and T A Pai, then railway minister and had a close contact with 8 monasteries (8 Mutts) and he was giving captured photos to different dailies of Malpe boat tragedy. The studio which has 100 years of history to its credit and employs 30 staff.
In the release it was said that “Chaaya Spoorthi” award will be conferred on Shirali on ‘World Photography Day” on August 19 in front of his wife Geetha,an employee of Vijaya bank, Son Major Anand Shirali,ADC,for Chandigarh-Haryana governor, daughter- in-law Varsha,daughter Kripa,son-in-law Santhosh,grand-daughter Anusha-a complete family members
