Karkala: Disbursement of Rs 4.19 crores; authorities astuteness help to accomplish the mission-says minister Sorake

Karkala: August 03: Vinaya Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development and district in- charge said in his address that in order to deliver the good and transparent governance representatives and authorities must be honest. Instead of people running after government departments to avail facilities, concerned departments should reach them and distribute the facilities.

He further said that organizing a model programmes like this and distributing the facilities directly to the people by visiting them will have a direct and positive impact. This can be done only through smartness and pro-activeness of the authorities and projects can be accomplished constructively with the involvement of shrewd authorities, he added.

After inaugurating the facility disbursement ceremony jointly organized by Udipi district administration and Zilla Panchayat, at Manjunatha Pai Memorial Sabha Bhavan on August 03,Saturday,he has distributed the facilities to the benefactors and said in his address that apart from distributing rice at Rs 1/-per kg to the people below poverty line(BPL), government also implemented the project of providing milk to one lakh students under “Ksheera Bhagya scheme” and for the people who are  genuinely eligible for BPL card and got APL card, can be given BPL card again, he said.

He also clarified that for the convenience of conversion of lands other than agricultural lands in rural villages, the government is thinking of taking steps to  liberalize Panchayatraj act model 9 and 11 and ‘Bhoonyaya samiti’ will be formed for  regularizing Akrama,Sakram.

He said that I being the urban minister and district in- charge, fund will be released for the development works of city’s roads, drainage system and bus stands as requested by Sunil Kumar, MLA from Karkala constituency.

Sunil Kumar, LA having presided over the function said in his presidential address that it is happy to note that through governments project like this 1435 benefactors of the taluk are receiving the benefits and hoping many more benefactors must avail this kind of facilities through this kind of programmes in future also.

He also mentioned about the arrangements for the issuance of power of letters to nearly 5000 families, who have built their houses on government lands without any authentic power of letters for the past 15 years and urged the government to issue power of letters to the people who already occupied after amending the 94 C act. Since the roads in udipi, Dakshina Kannada, Shivmog and Chikmaglur have been badly damaged due to the impact of heavy rains in the coastal region during this monsoon, Sunil Kumar has appealed to the government to release more packages for the repair works of the roads in the mentioned places.

On the occasion Sandhya Suraksha,Bhagyalaxmi,agricultural machineries, silk including fishing materials from the different government departments have been distributed to 1435 benefactors at the spot only.For theDurga grama  Forest Samiti in Mudar village, minister has handed over a cheque for  Rs 12,72,249 on behalf of Karnataka forest department,Kundapur unit for the forest cutting purpose.

Suresh Gore, President, Village forest Samiti and Manjunatha, secretary received the cheque.

Upendra Nayak,President,Udipi zilla panchayat,Prabhakar Sharma, Zilla Panchayat administrator,Dr M T Reju,DC,Rashmi Shetty, President taluk panchayat,Jayavarma Jain, vice president,Nirmaladevi,Karkala tahsildar,Zilla panchayat members like smt.Savita Kotian, Manjunatha Poojary,Udaya Kotian and among others were present.

Rajendra Bekal, taluk panchayat administrator welcomed the gathering, Rajendra Bhat compered the programme.
