UDUPI: Three persons swindled a Hyderabad-based doctor of Rs 25 lakh by assuring him a post-graduate seat for his daughter in Manipal University.

Raghavendra Rao, Bhaskar Rao and Vijay Kumar collected Rs 25 lakh from Dr Jaipal Reddy for a PG seat. Dr Reddy complained to Manipal police that the Rao duo introduced themselves as officials of Manipal University and initially took Rs 15 lakh from him on June 11 at a house in Manipal.

After a few days, Raghavendra Rao sent Vijay Kumar to Hyderabad to collect the remaining amount of Rs 10 lakh. Dr Reddy said the accused neither secured a seat for his daughter nor refunded his money. The accused are also said to have hacked the website of Manipal University and misguided Dr Reddy by posting his daughter’s name in the admission column. A case has been registered at Manipal police station and police are yet to trace the accused.
