Manjunath’s proud moment ; Documentary ” journey towards IIT” released

Mangalore, July 13: A documentary titled “Journey towards IIT” based on the life and achievement of Manjunath, a lad from Sullia taluk, directed by Ganesh Prasad, an advocate and president of Kumaraswamy Vidyalaya, has been released by M N Rajendra Kumar, Chairman SCDCC bank ON July 13, Saturday at SCDCC bank conference hall.

Addressing the occasion Rajendra Kumar said in his address that it is pride releasing a documentary on the life of Manjunath, who has secured 82 % in B.Sc examination in spite of his all the obstacles on his way and could get an admission in a very prestigious institute.

He further said that Manjunath who made not only his parents and  his school proud but also made entire  district proud by achieving this fete and hoped that he would one day become a renowned scientist and make his district further more proud.

He regretted about the fact that today the government sponsored scholarships are in fact not reaching the poor students but is benefitted by students, who have better facilities.

Ganesh Prasad, director of the documentary said that documentary is based on the life and achievement of Manjunath, who was a daily wage earner and washed vessels in the hotel in his free time to meet his daily expenses but still he could make it to IIT Bhubaneswar.

Later on the occasion Manjunatha has been felicitated by Rajendra Kumar by handing over him a cheque of Rs 50, 000, who will be joining the premier institution on July 22.

P B Harish Rai, President Dakshina Kannada working journalists union welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests, Shivarama, teacher of Manjunath proposed vote of thanks.
