Ucupi: Cooperative society and banking system by the Bus Owners Association, was inaugurated by Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake at Town Hall Udupi
Speaking after inaugurating the the minister said that the Land Transport Authority has been formed for the first time in Karnataka and in the country that can control the dense vehicular movements on the stretches and he announced that the Sheeradi-Augumbe stretch should be upgraded to national highway soon.
The minister added that the nationalization of the buses are not happening in Udupi district because of the best service offered by the buses.
He added however the increasing accidents on the roads between Hejmadi and Udupi is a matter of concern. A motivation camp should be organized to the drivers to teach them the importance of the safe driving.
He added that Trivandrum to Kasargod high speed train should be an example for the developed transportation. We should also focus on improvising technology he advised.
Abhay Chandra Jain, Minister for Fisheries, Youth Welfare and Sports said that the stretch connecting Manipal to Bajpe airport should be planned & implemented at the earliest.
He said there are 7000 private buses in the state, of which nearly 3000 are in erstwhile Dakshina Kannada district. He said government should not permits new buses as there is already excessive number of buses plying with one minute gap.
Canara Bus Operators Association president Raj Verma Ballal was felicitated on the occasion.
