Mangalore, July 7: The first load of stones for the renovation project of the Sri Surya Narayana Temple, Maroli, arrived the city, from Tamil Nadu, here on Sunday, July 07, 2013, thus giving a grand initiation for the renovation of the largest territorial bound temple, comprising of 7 villages under it.

The stones were granted a grand welcome in pumpwella nd was taken along to the temple in a procession that included Dolls, Chende Sets, Nasik Banks and huge crowd.

A formal stage program was also held in pumpwell, to mark the event. Anantha Krishna Bhat, Chairman, Karnataka Bank, spoke on the occasion and rendered his best wishes and prayed for the success of the project.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Ganesh Bangera MD G B Constructions, K C Naik MD Mahabaleshwara promoters and builders, Giridhar Bhat Head priest Radha Krishna temple, J V Seetharam Chairman J V Sons group, Monappa Bhandary MLC, Bhaskar Suvarna MD Udhbav builders Tharethota, Corporators Keshava, Sabitha Misquith, Praveen Chandra Alva and Asha Gretta D’Silva Chittaranjan Garodi temple president,  Balakrishna Kottary Maroli temple President, K P Shetty Maroli Temple renovation committee president, Giridhar Shetty, Purushotham Rai, Allwyn Silva, Pradep Kumar Shetty and others were present on the occasion.

The procession was given a traditional start by breaking the coconut by the present dignitaries.The procession ended up in the maroli temple, via capitanio, Garodi and nagori. Large people gathered all the way in the procession.

A special pooja was held in the temple to the set of stones that arrived to the temple.
