LPG tanker falls on road; explodes, burst into flames; houses burnt, several injured.

Karwar, September 1: A bullet tanker loaded with liquefied petroleum gas fell by its side on the road and burst into flames. The incident occurred near Kumta before sunrise on Tuesday September 1st.

It is reported that the driver of tanker was burnt alive and the tanker continues to be engulfed in huge flames. Minimum ten people suffered injuries and even the nearby houses were also engulfed in flames, said the sources.

This incident occurred at around 5.30 am near Bargi in Kumta taluk. The tanker lost balance and tumbled after its driver lost control over the vehicle. A number of fire extinguishers including from Udupi, have rushed to the spot, and have been fighting to subside the flames.

Two persons were seen charred alive.A dog too sustained burnt injuries in the incident.

Kumta police rushed to the spot. The area was cordoned off. Vehicles were seen waiting in long queues for a long distance after this incident.
