Mangaluru, July 11: The coastal Karnataka has witnessed heavy rains in the last two days due to which the low lands have submerged under water. The continuous rains has caused losses in many places. A boy has lost life after a retaining wall collapsed over a house at Pudu village in Farangipet, Bantwal taluk.
Due to the rain, in some places walls have collapsed, trees have fallen and low lands are flooded in rain water. The rivers such as Nethravathi and Kumardhara have swollen.
The retaining wall of a residential building near MaryHill in the city has collapsed due to the rains incurring a huge loss. A compound of a temple has collapsed near Kadri Kambala road.
Traffic was effected for sometime as two tress fell on the road near Dongarakeri and Court roads. A Huge tree collapsed on the road near Bendorewell affecting the traffic flow for sometime. In Shivanagar of Moodushedde, a compound wall collapsed over two persons Arun and Lokaiah who suffered injuries and are being treated in a local hospital.
A temporary flood was created in low level areas near Kottara, Bejai, and Attavara. Although it had rained on Friday, the rain had decreased.
In the entrance of the private apartment, due to the rains cracks have appeared in the interlocks placed there. The nearby play ground is also affected. As the soil has collapsed close to the pillars of the building, the building is in a risk.
