Mangaluru, July 9: A bus turned turtle near Kateel near here in which sixteen persons were injured. The incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, June 9th, while the bus was moving near Ballana.
As the land had slid due to rain while the bus was traversing though the road, the bus driver lost control over the vehicle and the bus fell into a George.
Nearly 15-20 people were travelling in the bus. The five persons who were seriously injured were admitted to hospital in Mukka, while the rest have been admitted to private hospital in Kinnigolli.
Some among the injured have been identified as Yogitha of Ganjimatt, Shreesha Kumar of Yekkar, Pratap Mallur, Yashwant Mallur, Shivprasad of Kavoor, Prashant Naik of Kateel, Venkatesh of Mallur, Harinakshi of Sunkadakatte, Anjali of Bajpe, and Radhika Geeta Balachandra.
Minister Visits hospital:
State Sports minister Abhayachandra Jain along with Fr Jerome, principal of Pompai college, Kinnigolli visited the injured in the hospital. Minister immediately phoned the officials of Public Work department and informed them to either broaden the road or construct protective walls, it is gathered.
The stretch has lot of curves and many accidents had occurred in this spot.
