Addressing the gathering, SP Dr Sharanappa expressed his happiness to participate in this people-friendly initiative by KMC Hospital. KMC has made great contribution to the field of health-care. In our country, every year, about 3.5-4 lakh people expire in accidents and millions suffer injuries. Today humanity is vanishing in society. ‘Golden hour’ is very important in providing treatment for patients in time of accidents, he said.

Use of technology in emergency service has played a very important role. He congratulated KMC for launching this citizen-friendly service and requested KMC to widen its network.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr Colonol M Dayananda Prabhu, medical superintendent and COO, KMC Manipal said, in January MARS was initially started in Bengaluru. About 1,000 lives have been saved in the past 3-4 months. This ambulance is very well equipped and has a two-way camera which enables the paramedics to provide information on heart rate and other statistics about the patient’s condition. These cameras provide live streaming in our monitoring center in hospital. Through this, doctors can view the patient and give directions to stabilize his condition. He wished great success to this project.

Dr V Surendra Shetty, pro vice-chancellor of Manipal University, said, we have launched our advanced ambulance service today. It is not enough if we have the best doctors and facilities.
