Transfer of Police officers based on Supreme court order: says KJ George

Mangalore, June 19:  Speaking to media reporters in the press meet held at district police commissioner office, the state home minister KJ George said in his address that transfer of police officers will be  purely based on supreme court order.

He further said that instruction has been already given in all the police station to form sexual harassment addressal department but in some districts it has not come into existence yet and action will be taken against those police station, he added.

With regards to sexual harassment by ASP to his subordinate ASI, Mangalore south police station, he said investigation is in progress but this investigation process is moving very slowly and it is not fair to pressurize the investigation team, he added.

While answering the question posed by press reporters about the ACPs link with underworlds and allegation on ACPs about the involvement of various activities, minister said in this regard disciplinary action committee has been set up to deal with the case but he has not disclosed about the existence of the same department in Mangalore.

When the issue of church attack, which happened in 2008, brought to the knowledge of home minister, he said that assembly has not approved the report of Justice Somashekar and in this report too there are some matters which are not clear. Without approving in the assembly, nothing can be told about it, he said.

He also said that in police department there supposed to be 10% women staff should be there but now only 6% women staff is there, besides vacant vacancies will also be filled shortly. If, aboriginals and tribals willing to join police department, they will be given special facilities, he added.

He further said that department is facing acute accommodation problem but this cannot be solved within one year and therefore aiming to build 4-5 thousand quarters, he informed.

Besides he also said that for the surrender of naxals, government has done special arrangement and efforts are being done to bring those naxals to mainstream of the society and similarly department of naxals menace control has been tightened and government is always ready to extend helping hand to tackle the problem of naxals and he has not given any order to give cycle to police constables, he informed.
