Konkani Writers Forum urges State to appoint individuals with literary background for Academy President post

Mangalore, June 18: Addressing the media in the press meet held on June 18, Tuesday Henry Mendonca, President of Konkani writers forum-Karnataka ® said in his address that government should not unnecessarily heed to the pressure from vested interests in appointing the president for Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy because of the fact that individuals with no literacy background held the reigns of Academy.

Henry also further urged the state authorities to appoint chairman/president for Konkani academy with the criteria of central academy that the individual has to be litterateur, who has published at least 2 significant books and should be a member of the academy. The people from outside state should not be given membership

The Forum urges to make the steering committee responsible to take care of the alleged miss-appropriation in the affairs of Academy, urged Henry
