Mangaluru, May 6: A Muslim youth while kidnapping a Hindu woman from Shivamogga to Mangaluru was caught by youths belonging to some Hindu outfits who handed them over to the police. These youths of Hindu outfits were in-turn arrested by the Urva cops. Opposing this, the BJP leaders protested in front of the police station here on Thursday morning.
Details of the incident:
It is learnt that, a man named Sadik (Bus cleaner) by introducing him as a Hindu by name Vinayak, developed friendship with a Shivamogga based Hindu woman. He later lured the woman and was bringing her to Mangaluru. They were caught by the youths belonging to some Hindu outfits who had handed them over to the Urva police.
On investigation, it was learnt that a kidnap case was filed against Sadik at Shivamogga Police station. On this basis, accused Sadik and the woman both was investigated and were sent to Shivamogga, said the sources.
In connection to this case, on Wednesday night, the cops raided houses in Kodikal belonging to some youths of Hindu associations and took five youths into custody and filed cases on them, it is learnt.
Some BJP leaders who were raged by this, have protested in front of Urva Police Station here on Thursday morning.
Former minister Krishna J Palemar, district media Chief Rajgopal Rai, former president of
Karnataka Tulu Academy Umanatha Kotian and others discussed this matter with the cops. The cops have informed that as a case is already filed on the arrested youths, they will be produced before the court , it is learnt.
