Customs at Mangalore International Airport seized gold worth Rs.15,71,944

MANGALURU : The officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport on 06.04.2015, seized gold in the form of two cylindrical rod shaped objects totally weighing 583.300 Grams of value Rs.15,71,944/- (Rupees Fifteen Lakhs Seventy One Thousand Nine Hundred and Forty Four only), brought by a passenger who arrived from Dubai.

The passenger had brought these gold rods by concealing them in his rectum. The passenger Shri. Sabir Berka, aged about 19 years, who arrived at Mangalore International Airport on 06.04.2015 at about 08.25 hrs by Jet Airways Flight No. 9W531 from Dubai, is a resident of Kasaragod, Kerala. The passenger has been arrested and produced before the Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mangalore, for remand. Further investigation is under progress.
