Mangalore, June 7: U T Khader, minister for health and family welfare paid his maiden visit to Ullal town Panchayat after his elevation to ministerial post and discussed various issues pertaining to the developmental works of the constituency and gathered enough knowledge about the problems of the region.
During the discussion,Panchayat officials have been taken for task for failing to perform their duties.It has been bought to the attention of concerned department that constituency is facing acute drinking water problem,but officials have not disclosed it,they were trying to conceal it.
In reality requirement of the water for Ullal constituency is about 7 MLT and they made an agreement for 3 MLT with MCC but only 1.5 MLT is being supplied now from MCC,which is enough only to cater the requirement of Ullal people ,what about the people of Permannur?,he questioned.
Besides he also discussed the issue of sea erosion with the concerned Councillors and corporators and informed that stones for the purpose has already been arrived and waiting for the government grants,which he will discuss with government for the early release,he promised.
Also discussed about the spread of contagious diseases like malaria and dengue fever in the region and steps to be taken for the control and prevention of those diseases.
He said in his speech that whatever the works being undertaken mainly the road works or any other works in the jurisdiction of Ullal Panchayat, complete details of the income/expenses incurred for the particular works must be made known to the public and thereby transparency in the works must be maintained and gain confidence of the public, he informed to the Panchayat administrators and local representatives.
