Mangalore, May 24: Addressing the media personnel Nalin Kumar Kateel BJP said in his speech that if Udipi Mutt and Gokarna temples were taken under the custody of government as stated by chief minister Siddaramaih, BJP will oppose the move and rigorous struggle will take place against this anti-religious/people move by the government and ensure that justice is prevailed.
He further said, with this approach of chief minister, it seems he wants to play on the religious sentiments and beliefs of people of coastal region.
He further said, each Mutt/temple has its own tradition, culture, history and beliefs, which are sacred for the people of the particular region.Traditional, religious rituals have been followed by the people of the region and the move by the government to bring it under its fold is strongly opposed and which is against the tradition/beliefs of the people, he opined.
If any such attempt of bringing Udipi Krishna Mutt and Gokarna is made against the wishes of the people by hurting the sentiments of the people by the government, BJP will not only oppose the move and mega struggle will start and create awareness about the same amongst the people, he clarified
In the same way, with the creation of new talukas, BJP was trying to help the people of that region to realize their dreams come true. But unfortunately congress government is contemplating to cancel this directive of BJP, which is anti-people and BJP will protest intently throughout the state, if anti-people step of this type is being undertaken, he warned
